Another Covid-19 cluster has been reported in Semporna, Sabah, making it the seventh cluster in the state.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said five positive cases had been detected so far in the new Bangau-Bangau cluster – cases 10,340 to 10,344, comprising four Malaysians and a foreigner.
“This cluster was identified via screenings of patients being treated at the Semporna hospital. They were all asymptomatic and are now being treated in the same hospital,” he said in a press conference in Putrajaya today.
He said 97 people from the cluster have been screened so far, 92 of whom are awaiting their results.
The source of infection remains under investigation.
However, Noor Hisham said preventive measures including disinfection and cleaning had been carried out, adding that services at the Semporna hospital are running as usual.
