Ex-TNB president Amir Hamzah appointed as EPF chief

He replaces Tunku Alizakri Alias who had held the position since August 2018.

Former Tenaga Nasional Bhd president Amir Hamzah Azizan has been appointed as CEO of retirement fund EPF effective March 1, taking over from Tunku Alizakri Alias who had held the position since Aug 20, 2018.

Amir, who has more than 25 years of corporate experience, began his career with the Shell Group of Companies before serving as CEO for MISC Bhd, Petronas Dagangan Bhd, Petronas Lubricants International, Icon Offshore Bhd and Themed Attractions Resorts and Hotels Sdn Bhd.

EPF chairman Ahmad Badri Mohd Zahir in a statement congratulated Amir on his appointment.

“With his broad corporate experience, we are looking forward to his dynamic and focused leadership to lead the fund through this complex and challenging period of the EPF’s history,” he said.

Adding that Tunku Alizakri would continue in public service “in a different capacity”, he thanked him for his service, saying Tunku Alizakri’s vision, drive and commitment was evident in the fund’s drive towards digital acceleration and operational efficiency, among others.
