Amanah’s Permatang Pasir assemblyman Faiz Fadzil today denied claims by a PKR activist that he had sexually assaulted her, saying he is considering taking legal action to clear his name.
In a statement, he said he had been called in by the police following the report lodged against him on March 16.
“I have given the police my cooperation and will continue to do so in order to assist the investigation,” he said, adding that he could not reveal his defence as the probe is ongoing.
Faiz, the son of the late PAS president Fadzil Noor, also said he would continue his duties as an assemblyman along with the fight to uphold democracy and social justice.
MalaysiaNow earlier reported that the 31-year-old woman had lodged a report at a police station in Subang Jaya last week, accusing the politician of fondling her.
She said she first met the politician in January, followed by a second meeting where she agreed to his offer of a dinner treat for her birthday.
She said she agreed to go with him as she “felt honoured”.
However, she claimed the man tried to hug and fondle her in his car before telling her to keep what had happened to herself.
She said she had been “emotionally distressed” since then.
