A state assemblyman from a nothern state has been named in a sexual harassment complaint by a 31-year-old PKR activist, who among others accuses the politician from Amanah of fondling her.
A police report lodged at a police station in Subang Jaya last week, sighted by MalaysiaNow, states that the alleged incidents took place at a mall in Petaling Jaya as well as in the politician’s car.
When contacted, a police spokesman confirmed such a report, but could not give details of its status.
The complainant said she first met the politician in January, followed by a second meeting where she agreed to his offer of a dinner treat for her birthday.
She said she agreed to go with him as she “felt honoured”.
However, she claimed the man tried to hug and fondle her in his car before telling her to keep what had happened to herself.
She said she had been “emotionally distressed” since then.
Malaysiakini reported that the case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which covers offences regarding the use of criminal force to outrage a person’s modesty.
The politician, a senior leader of a political party, is also the son of a late leading political figure from Kedah.
Efforts to contact him were of no avail.
