Police have opened an investigation paper into allegations that entrepreneur and celebrity Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor was not wearing a face mask when she arrived at the Seremban court complex for a proceeding yesterday.
Seremban district police chief ACP Mohd Said Ibrahim said the investigation is being carried out under Section 269 of the Penal Code (Act 574) and Regulation 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021.
He said a police report had been lodged claiming that the 32-year-old celebrity did not comply with the health ministry’s SOPs which apply to all, including those who wear the niqab.
“An explanation on the matter was issued by the ministry after the wearing of face masks was made compulsory in crowded public places from Aug 1,” he said in a statement today.
Noor Neelofa and her husband Muhammad Haris Mohd Ismail pleaded not guilty at the Seremban Magistrate’s Court yesterday to violating SOPs under the earlier conditional MCO at a carpet shop in Nilai on May 2.
