Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah today requested a change to his current sitting position in the Dewan Rakyat, from the government bench to a seat nearer the independent bloc.
In a statement, he said he did not wish to sit with the government representatives as he had never agreed to back the Perikatan Nasional administration.
“I do not wish to continue sitting in the seat that has been provided for me in the Dewan Rakyat as though I have become a supporter of the current government,” he said in the statement addressed to speaker Azhar Harun.
“I do not yet know whether other MPs from my party have made arrangements regarding their seats in the Dewan Rakyat.
“But irrespective of their decision in this matter, I would like to request to be moved to another, more appropriate, spot, in line with the spirit of the struggle of Barisan Nasional/Umno, especially my voters, Umno members and the people of Malaysia so that I will not even in the slightest regard be seen as a supporter of this failed government.”
