The Umno Supreme Council today said it has enough statutory declarations (SDs) from its MPs who have revoked their support for Muhyiddin Yassin, adding that the prime minister has lost the majority to remain in power.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the SDs will be submitted to the Agong.

“I have submitted an adequate number of SDs to confirm the revocation of support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, which shows that his leadership has lost the majority and his legitimacy as head of the government is void,” Zahid said at a press conference also attended by deputy president Mohamad Hasan, adviser Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and former president Najib Razak.

Zahid said additional SDs from other Umno MPs would also be presented to the Agong in a future audience.

He said Umno was also of the view that Muhyiddin’s decision to put the emergency ordinances to debate in September goes against the call by the Agong.

“Muhyiddin must take responsibility for the failure and the refusal of his government in going against the order of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, by resigning honourably as prime minister,” said Zahid.

He did not give the full list of MPs who had revoked their support for Muhyiddin, but said that they were present at the press conference.

Those present included Azalina Othman Said (Pengerang), Mohd Nizar Zakaria (Parit), Azeez Abdul Rahim (Baling), Noh Omar (Tanjung Karang), Ahmad Nazlan Idris (Jerantut), Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub (Machang), Ramli Mohd Nor (Cameron Highlands) and Ahmad Maslan (Pontian).
