Nearly 1,000 areas in the Klang Valley will experience a four-day disruption to water supply beginning Oct 13 as a result of repair and maintenance works at the Sungai Selangor Phase 1 water treatment plant.
Air Selangor said the works, which had been pushed down from their original schedule for 2019 and 2020, followed incidents of water pollution which had caused unscheduled large-scale disruptions to water supply.
A total of 998 areas in Petaling, Klang/Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor will be affected from 9am on Oct 13, with water supply expected to be restored by 9pm on Oct 16.
Air Selangor said water supplies would be channelled to users in stages from 5pm on Oct 14 until the repair and maintenance works are complete.
“The period of water supply disruption and restoration will differ based on the location of the premise and pressure on the water distribution system,” it said.
It said 105 water tankers would be sent to the affected areas with priority given to critical premises such as hospitals and dialysis centres.
Eighteen public water taps will also be provided from Oct 14 to 16 for users who require water supply during this period.
