Former deputy minister Guan Dee Koh Hoi dies

The STAR secretary-general died at Hospital Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

Former deputy minister Guan Dee Koh Hoi died at Hospital Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

According to his party, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR), Guan Dee died at 4.50pm.

Guan Dee served as deputy tourism, arts and culture minister in the Perikatan Nasional administration under former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

He was sworn in as a senator in December last year and had also served as STAR secretary-general since July 2016.

In August, his special officer Jaimin Samitah died of Covid-19.

While Jaimin had tested negative during the mass screening on MPs and parliament staff before the reopening of Parliament, he subsequently tested positive for the virus after developing symptoms.
