Barisan Nasional (BN) has been compounded RM10,000 by the Kepong health department for breaching SOPs under Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan during the launch of its election machinery for the Melaka state polls last night.

According to the compound notice uploaded to the health ministry’s Facebook page, BN was issued the compound for failing to ensure physical distancing.

Several pictures showing the launch of BN’s election machinery in Melaka had previously gone viral, sparking anger from many who said the coalition was disregarding health SOPs.

The launch was broadcast live on the BN Comms and Umno Online social media platforms.

The health ministry had said that election-related gatherings or social events would be banned from Oct 24 to Nov 27.
