DAP will field eight candidates in the Melaka state election, who will contest under the Pakatan Harapan logo.

DAP today announced that it would retain six candidates while introducing two new faces in the Melaka election, the first polls to be held since the nationwide state of emergency imposed early this year to curb the spread of Covid-19 was lifted.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said in a statement that the two new candidates, Muhamad Danish Zainudin and Leng Chau Yen, would be fielded in the Pengkalan Batu and Bandar Hilir seats respectively.

The others are: Saminathan Ganesan (Gadek), Kerk Chee Yee (Ayer Keruh), Allex Seah Shoo Chin (Kesidang), Damian Yeo Shen Li (Duyong), Tey Kok Kiew (Bemban) and Low Chee Leong (Kota Laksamana).

All eight will contest the election under Pakatan Harapan’s logo.

The Melaka election scheduled to be held on Nov 20 was sparked by four assemblymen who withdrew their support for Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali: Idris Haron (Sungai Udang), Nor Azman Hassan (Pantai Kundor), Noor Effandi Ahmad (Telok Mas) and Norhizam Hassan Baktee (Pengkalan Batu).
