A total of 51 clusters or 66.2% of 77 new clusters reported by the health ministry during the week of Jan 15 to Jan 20 were linked to educational institutions.
The highest number of education clusters was recorded on Jan 19 with 16 clusters out of 20 new clusters detected, followed by Jan 20 with 11 education clusters out of 17 new clusters.
On Jan 18, of 17 new clusters detected, 11 were education clusters.
In Melaka, the state health department reported education clusters at two vocational colleges: Kolej Vokasional Melaka Tengah (76 cases) and Kolej Vokasional Datuk Seri Abu Zahar (11 cases).
In Sabah, among the education clusters detected was the Jalan Kepayan Lama-Tambunan cluster involving SMK Tambunan hostel. To date, 36 Covid-19 cases have been detected.
In Kedah, education cluster cases include Dah Penyarum (115 cases) and Dah Jalan Merbau (52 cases) while Penang reported education cluster cases at Jalan Sungai Nipah (83 cases).
