Communications and Multimedia Minister Annuar Musa today organised a prayer session for former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad who is undergoing treatment at the National Heart Institute (IJN).
The session which was held at the Muhammadi Mosque at Angkasapuri, Kuala Lumpur was held concurrently with a similar session at the Tuan Guru Haji Musa Mosque in Kota Bharu.
Congregation members filled the mosque premises in accordance with Covid-19 SOPs, wearing face masks and observing social distancing.
The session which included a recital of Surah Yasin ended at about 9.30pm.
Annuar said Mahathir had prayed at the Tuan Guru Haji Musa Mosque once before.
The mosque is named after Annuar’s late grandfather, a revered Muslim scholar in Kelantan.
“Tonight our family members gathered to pray for him,” he said.
Mahathir was readmitted to IJN early last week after undergoing an elective procedure on Jan 7.
He was previously admitted to IJN in December, when doctors said they were conducting a series of tests on the 96-year-old veteran leader.
While concerns have swirled over his health, his family said twice that he had regained consciousness and was in stable condition.
