The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today said it would seek assistance from the US Department of Justice (DoJ) in obtaining further information on the case of former Astro CEO Rohana Rozhan following recent claims by ex-Goldman Sachs banker Tim Leissner.
MACC chief Azam Baki also confirmed freezing assets worth US$10 million belonging to Rohana.
“We have already frozen US$10 million in assets and will continue to obtain further information from the US,” he said at a press conference in Putrajaya.
“We will call her again if we need to record her statement. For now, the case is still being investigated under the Anti-Money Laundering Act 2001.”
Azam also said that MACC would call several others whose names cannot be revealed at the moment.
MalaysiaNow reported last week that MACC had issued a freeze order on assets and a bank account belonging to Rohana as part an investigation into Leissner’s claim that he had been blackmailed into buying her a US$10 million home in London.
Rohana was called to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya for questioning on Feb 24.
When asked about Leissner’s claims, Azam declined to reveal details, saying the case is still ongoing in the US courts.
