Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today reminded Najib Razak of several outstanding compounds for the violation of Covid-19 SOPs, after the former prime minister asked why DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang had not been taken to task for breaching health measures at the party’s recent congress.
Najib had said that Lim, who recently tested positive for Covid-19, had been seen hugging DAP members at the congress in Shah Alam.
“Why is it that Anugerah Juara Lagu artistes can be fined for hugging, but the health ministry has not fined DAP?” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.
“I have no ill intentions but this gang has always had the most fun accusing me of breaching the SOPs, to the point where Khairy has fined me many times.”
In a Twitter post today, Khairy said Lim had already been issued a compound for his breach of SOPs.
“The health ministry hopes that Najib will pay the compound issued during the Johor state election which he has yet to settle,” he said.
“The health ministry also hopes that Najib has received the other four compounds sent to him through registered mail since his officer refused to accept them.”
Khairy revealed earlier this month that his ministry had issued 42 compound notices for the violation of SOPs during the campaign period for the Johor election, including five to Najib.
He added that only one had been successfully handed over, on March 8.
