Sri Aman MP Masir Kujat today announced his withdrawal from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) with immediate effect.

In a statement, Masir said he now fully supports the leadership of Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said he decided to leave PSB after holding discussions with grassroots supporters in his constituency.

He also cited several other factors such as the political situation which he said had affected the well-being of the people.

“I believe the best way to move forward is to set aside politics for now in order to help stabilise and rebuild our beloved country.

“Our prime minister is doing everything possible to help Malaysians get through this difficult period and I have to play my part by fully supporting his leadership,” he said.

Masir joined PSB after leaving Gabungan Parti Sarawak component Parti Rakyat Sarawak in March 2019.

His exit from PSB leaves the opposition party with only one MP in the Dewan Rakyat – Baru Bian, the MP for Selangau.
