Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) has given the sack to state information chief Isham Jalil, whose services were terminated effective June 3.
A letter signed by Selangor BN secretary Mohamad Satim Diman said the decision was made through discussions with the coalition chairman, according to Clause 23 of the BN constitution which states that there are no provisions for the chairman of the state BN committee to appoint an information chief.
Isham, a staunch supporter of former prime minister Najib Razak, said he accepted the decision and thanked everyone who had worked alongside him throughout his tenure as Selangor BN information chief.
“Our struggle is not yet over, so I urge everyone to continue the fight and all efforts even though I am no longer party of the state BN leadership,” he said in a Facebook post.
“I will help as much as I can even though I hold no position, and will continue the struggle as an ordinary member as I did before.”
Isham, Najib’s former special officer, was appointed as Selangor BN information chief in May 2020.
