The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested four individuals including the manager of a government-linked property company on suspicion of abetting in the submission of false claims for development projects in the east coast worth more than RM300 million.
The other three were the project manager, managing director and architect from the contrator and consultancy companies.
Three of them were arrested at the Terengganu MACC office while the fourth was arrested at his home in the capital at about noon on June 16.
The suspects, aged 28 to 48, were remanded for six days until June 22 after magistrate Noor Mazrinie Mahmood allowed the remand application by the MACC at the Kuala Terengganu Magistrate’s Court this morning.
When contacted, the senior director of MACC’s investigation division Hishamuddin Hashim confirmed the arrests.
