Umno’s political bureau held a meeting at the party's headquarters in Kuala Lumpur last night.

Chaired by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the meeting was attended by the party’s top leaders, including Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Ismail, who is Umno vice-president, arrived at 8pm.

Others seen arriving at the lobby of Menara Dato Onn in the World Trade Centre included Umno vice-president Mahdzir Khalid and Supreme Council member Noh Omar.

It is understood that the meeting was to discuss current developments including the Federal Court's decision to uphold the conviction, 12-year jail term and RM210 million fine of former prime minister Najib Razak.

Zahid in a statement on Facebook had stressed that Umno would act rationally and continue to comply with the party’s wishes, and that the party’s political bureau would meet soon.

"Let us continue to stand in solidarity. We will stay together through Najib’s ups and downs.

"There is no betrayal among us. We know who is the real enemy and who is the real friend," he said.

Zahid is also expected to deliver a special address to Umno division committee members and leaders at the World Trade Centre this Saturday.
