The widow of PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat voiced disapproval yesterday of her son's move to contest under PKR.

Nik Omar Nik Abdul Aziz is PKR's candidate in the seat of Pasir Salak, which was won by Umno's Tajuddin Abdul Rahman at the 2018 general election.

He faces a four-way fight against Barisan Nasional's Khairul Azwan Harun, Jamaluddin Yahya of Perikatan Nasional, and Pejuang candidate Zairol Hizam Zakaria.

His mother, Tuan Sabariah Tuan Ishak, said she had never given any of her children the blessing to contest an election except on a PAS ticket.

"The late Tuan Guru and I taught our children since they were small to stay true to the struggle of Islam together with PAS," she said in a Facebook post.

This is not the first time that Nik Omar has contested an election under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) banner.

In 2018, he ran for the state seat of Chempaka in Kelantan on an Amanah ticket.

He was announced as a PKR candidate for the upcoming election on Oct 26, but remained vague when asked if he had left Amanah for PKR.

"The important thing is that we are united in PH," he said.

"Being here is proof of our commitment to bringing about a government that is centred on justice."
