Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said today that he is still waiting for the report on claims that some students are not paid an allowance while undergoing industrial training.
He said the human resources ministry is currently scrutinising the report.
"The ministry has taken the report, and I’m waiting for updates," he told reporters after officiating the Fikrah Siddiq Fadzil Seminar at Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka in Kuala Lumpur today.
He said this in response to allegations that some interns with ministries, government departments, agencies and private companies have been denied allowance.
Anwar also said that he would examine any proposal to formulate a special law to protect the welfare of interns.
"Insha Allah, when the finance ministry and I receive the proposal, I will take appropriate action," he said.
