Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor (right) and Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar will continue to helm the states if Perikatan Nasional returns to power at the upcoming state polls.

The PAS leadership has agreed to retain Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar as the menteris besar of Kedah and Terengganu, but said it will nominate a fresh candidate to lead Kelantan if the party returns to power at the polls tomorrow.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the decisions would still need the consent of the sultans.

"(There will be) a change in the combination of menteri besar and deputy menteri besar for Kelantan, with a proposal for a combination of a religious figure and a technocrat, subject to the mandate of the people and the approval of the Sultan of Kelantan," he said.

The current Kelantan menteri besar, Ahmad Yakob, took over from the late Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat in 2013, with assistance from Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.

PAS wrested Kelantan from Barisan Nasional in 1990 and has ruled the state ever since.
