Pakatan Harapan candidate Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, also known as Altimet, has become the first artist in the country to win a state legislative assembly seat in the state election.

Altimet led with a 6,320 majority in the Selangor state polls and won the Lembah Jaya seat with a total of 26,172 votes, defeating Sharifah Haslizah Syed Ariffin from Perikatan Nasional, who garnered 19,409 votes.

The result was announced by Lembah Jaya electoral officer Zafrul Fazry Mohd Fauzi.

Altimet was launched into the political scene during the 15th general election when he recomposed the "Hoi Hoi Ya Hoi" song from P Ramlee's 1961 film Ali Baba Bujang Lapok.

He joined PKR in 2021 and was appointed to the Ampang PKR division chief post in the general election last year.

The seat was previously held by PKR's Haniza Mohamed Talha, who won with a majority of 14,790 votes after obtaining 22,512 votes in the 14th general election.

As of 10pm, the Election Commission has declared PAS the winner in Terengganu and Kelantan.
