Heavy rains this afternoon caused flash floods in several parts of Shah Alam, with the Section 13 area being hit hardest after water levels at the nearby Sungai Damansara breached the warning mark.
As of 6pm, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage's flood information website said the water level at Sungai Damansara was at 5.59m, past the 5m warning mark.
Pictures and video clips of vehicles and roads submerged in water have been posted on social media, in scenes reminicent of the floods that hit several states almost two years ago, with Selangor recording the highest number of deaths.
Checks at around 7pm in Section 13 showed floodwaters had begun to recede in the area.
Section 13, where the Shah Alam stadium is located, was also among the areas badly hit by the floods in late 2021.
The floods left a trail of destruction in other parts of Selangor, such as Hulu Langat and Taman Sri Muda, causing residents millions of dollars in losses.
Last month, the High Court allowed a negligence suit brought by residents of Taman Sri Muda against the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and state-owned KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd to continue, as they seek RM3.8 million in damages.
