Small plane crashes in Shah Alam township

A small plane crashed in Shah Alam earlier this afternoon, with clips of flames and smoke rising from a blackened stretch of road making the rounds on social media.

Details have been sketchy, but according to Twitter posts, an aircraft crashed on a road in Elmina, a township along the Guthrie expressway and neighbouring the Subang airport.

There are also reports of several casualties.

Shah Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim confirmed the incident and said a police team has been sent to the location, Bernama reports.

It is understood that the plane, a private aircraft, had departed from Langkawi to Subang.

Meanwhile, journalist Hadi Azmi tweeted that the crash took place near Elmina's Rainbow Bridge, about 5km from the Subang airport.

"No confirmation on the size/type of plane and casualties at the moment," he said.
