Sungai Tua assemblyman Amirudin Shari was sworn in for a second term as Selangor menteri besar at Istana Alam Shah in Klang today.
Amirudin, the Selangor Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, took his oath of office before Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah at 11.23am.
The ceremony was also attended by the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, and Selangor Raja Muda, Tengku Amir Shah.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had said during the campaign for the Selangor election that Amirudin would be nominated for the post of menteri besar if the PH-Barisan Nasional (BN) pact formed the next state government.
Together, PH and BN won 34 of the 56 seats in the Selangor legislative assembly, with the remaining 22 going to Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Amirudin himself defended his Sungai Tua seat, winning it for the fourth consecutive time since 2008.
He won 19,678 votes, beating PN candidate Muhammad Hanif Jamaluddin by 5,185 votes.
