Former minister Khairy Jamaluddin today hit out at DAP over its response to the discharge granted to Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in the Yayasan Akalbudi case, calling it "a running dog and enabler of abuse of power".

In an Instagram post responding to DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, he said DAP had "no more red lines".

"Reduced to what they used to accuse MCA of being," he added. "A running dog and enabler of abuse of power.

"But they know it doesn't matter. 95% of Chinese voters will still continue to support them."

Loke had said in a statement late last night that outgoing Attorney-General Idrus Harun should explain the government's move to drop 47 corruption charges against Zahid, the deputy prime minister and Umno president.

He said Idrus should publicly explain the factors leading to the move by the Attorney-General's Chambers to apply for a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) for Zahid.

He also said the DNAA application was the prerogative of the attorney-general to "temporarily halt the proceedings pending a more detailed investigation".

Zahid had faced 12 counts of criminal breach of trust, eight of corruption, and 27 of money laundering involving tens of millions of ringgit belonging to the charity foundation.

He was given the DNAA after deputy public prosecutor Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, who was appointed just last month to replace Raja Rozela Raja Toran following her sudden "early retirement", informed judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah of the Attorney-General's Chambers' request to discontinue all proceedings against him.
