The Pelangai state seat by-election is set to see a three-cornered fight between Barisan Nasional (BN), Perikatan Nasional (PN), and an independent candidate.

The line-up was announced by Pelangai by-election returning officer Mohammad Shahid Ismail at the Felda Kemasul Community Hall nomination centre in Bentong today.

Representing BN is Bentong Umno committee member Amizar Abu Adam, who will go up against PN's Bentong PAS deputy president Kasim Samat.

Meanwhile, businessman Haslihelmy DM Zulhasli Fauzi, who is president of the NGO Pertubuhan Suara Anak Pahang, will contest as an independent candidate.

The Pelangai by-election was called after its assemblyman, Johari Harun, died in a plane crash in Shah Alam, Selangor, on Aug 17.

The Election Commission has set Oct 7 as the polling date and Oct 3 for early voting.
