Police have been asked to investigate the use of force by Selangor authorities, including the involvement of thugs in an operation to demolish the homes of residents in Kampung Sri Makmur, Gombak, yesterday.

In a police report lodged by one of the residents, the authorities are accused of using violence against a group of villagers who refused to leave their homes.

In his report, Mohamad Azhar Ariff said a seven-year-old child was nearly trampled in the chaos that ensued.

"We found out that during the commotion, a group of men in green vests joined the enforcement officers as they charged into us," he added.

"We believe the men wearing the green vests are not police," Azhar said in the police report seen by MalaysiaNow.

He said the enforcement officers rammed into the residents' houses while final negotiations between the representatives of the villagers and the developer were still ongoing.

A viral video clip shows the chaos that ensued when the officers from the Selayang Municipal Council forced their way into the houses to carry out the demolition order.

According to reports, nine families who were pioneer residents of Kampung Sri Makmur were ordered to move out so that the demolition could be carried out.

The demolition was to pave the way for a condominium project by a private developer in collaboration with the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).

Azhar criticised the Selangor government, adding that police officers who were present stood idly by as enforcement officers violently charged into the villagers.

"It is as if the Selangor state government is allowing gangsterism  to enable developers and PKNS to demolish our village," he said.
