Although the cheaper petrol variant has not been available in Malaysia since 2009, it is still used in many parts of the world, including developed countries.

The new price will come into effect from midnight tonight until Sept 27.

The finance ministry says the government will maintain the ceiling price of RON95 to protect consumers from the increase of global oil price.
