Uvalde officials came under scrutiny after nearly 400 law enforcement officers waited outside school classrooms for more than an hour before confronting and killing the shooter.

Mandy Gutierrez was placed on administrative leave, with pay, after an investigation by a Texas legislative committee found that she knew about security issues around the school.

The suspension follows the release of a report on an investigation by a Texas legislative committee into the May 24 shooting.
